Longing For the Silverflintdaily DOW prompt: friendship beer wheelbarrow. Silver is surprised how his desires have changed.

Silver gazed at the waves, sea breeze stirring his curls. He'd reinvented himself many times over but only now, when he'd felt a sense of belonging, purpose and friendship as the Walrus's cook, did he find himself confused -surprised- about who he was, what he desired.

He'd long dreamed of beer by the barrel, endless feasts, gold by the wheelbarrow; simple dreams of abundance. But now he longed for more.
He wanted Flint. He wanted love.

Flint approached, clapped him on the shoulder. "Come on," he said and Silver followed, hopeful, sure he'd seen his longing reflected on Flint's face.

Anniversary For the Silverflintdaily DOW prompt: measure, dwindle, flirt. Silver and Flint after one year together. Modern AU.

"Why do you look so pensive?"

Silver shrugged, sipped his wine. Flint, standing behind him, wrapped one arm around Silver's waist, kissed one cheek.

"I don't think I've ever had an anniversary," Silver said. "I flirt, I date, I watch affection dwindle, I leave when things get bad or boring, or before they go that way. A whole year together... a measure of commitment I wasn't sure I was capable of."

"Well you are," Flint said. "Don't let past fears haunt you. I'm not going anywhere. And I hope neither are you."

Silver smiled and shifted position to kiss Flint.

"Conveniently for you it means I have to take you out to dinner, or at least order in," Flint said, pulling out his phone. "What do you fancy?"

"Still Italian," Silver said. He smiled. "And then you."

Drabble for the Silverflint DOW Week 11 November 18, 2019: talent, kettle, forest

After fighting off an attacker a cold and wet Silver and Flint take refuge at Miranda's cottage. Season 01, huddling for warmth.

They ran through the forest in the rain, finally reaching the cottage where Miranda gave them blankets, put on the kettle, and went back to bed.

Silver took off his wet garments and huddled by the fireside under a blanket. Flint followed suit.

"You're not hurt?"

"Just cold," Silver said, teeth chattering. He had a talent for lucky escapes and Flint had killed their attackers.

"Come here." Flint pulled him close to share body heat, skin to skin.

Silver stopped shivering. The kettle boiled; Flint offered to make tea.

"In a minute." He didn't want Flint to let go yet.

"Sit," Flint ordered. He fetched a bowl of water and a cloth, crouched down to dab at the bloodied lip and bruised cheekbone. Damaged knuckles had left a blood smear on Silver's trousers. Silver winced.

"What happened? Did you lose a bet?"

Silver shook his head.

"I'll ask Billy," Flint said, angry that Billy hadn't brought Silver back from the pub.

"I'm used to being insulted," Silver said softly. "But that man insulted you. Us."

"You're an idiot," Flint said but he was incredibly touched that Silver cared enough to fight for them.

Sometimes Silver seemed reluctant, giving reasons they shouldn't have moved in together, or refusing to go to social events as James's plus one, or getting twitchy over them buying a new duvet or a toaster. As if he wasn't going to stay put.

Other times Silver moved with breakneck speed, booking a romantic weekend away, joking about setting up a wedding registry, looking at pet adoptions, and telling strangers James was his husband. As if he wanted everything now.

The best times were when they sat quietly, talking, drinking, smiling. No reticence, no rushing. Being in the moment. Being happy.

1) The Lock & La Clé (black sails bang)
"Better alone than a bad soulmate," the saying goes to soothe those who've yet to bond, "better a lifelong friend than a lover's brief spark. Your soulmate is one whom you will always want in your life."

After a party game triggers his matchmark, Silver is horrified to find it is not Flint's soulmark, as he'd hoped, but belongs to the one constant in his life, the only person he can't afford to lose. Knowing how good he is at screwing up his personal relationships, Silver takes drastic and dangerous action.

2) The Auction
Flint needs Silver to go to a charity auction in his stead and insists he take soulmate, Max. While there, Silver and Max have a run-in with Woodes Rogers, and Silver suffers more anxiety about his relationship and how he fits in with the Max/Anne/Jack dynamic.

3) Hygiene
One evening Silver is telling his roommates about a run-in with Flint.

4) The Soulbond Goes Both Ways
When Jack is involved in an accident, Max calls Silver in a panic. The repercussions of the incident cause problems for the Max/Anne/Jack relationship and throw Silver into a tailspin of despair as he wonders if Max is about to be bonded with Anne as well as himself.
There's one person Silver knows who has an idea of how complex soulbonds can be; Miranda Barlow. If nothing else, there's the chance of afternoon tea, but Silver gets a reminder of something important to remember.

I finally got some amazing art for my small fandom big bang fic, a modern au of Black Sails, "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)". As some of you know I had a lot of issues with this fic, with beta reader and original artist dropping out and back-up artist submitting stock art incredibly late. This one was a labour of love and I resorted to my own dubious manips and picspam. I've written further fics set in the same 'verse.
This week, in return for my beta services on a translated multi-chapter fic, I received 3 gorgeous pieces of art for the fic and I'm thrilled!

1) Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)

When a practice drill awakens real feelings Doctor John Silver finds himself drawn into a complicated if satisfying relationship with both trauma surgeon James Flint and socialite Miranda Barlow that requires him to reconsider his plans and ambitions as well as his sexuality and desires.
Just as things seem perfect however a secret from Flint's past threatens to destroy the fragile balance. Devastated, Silver considers walking away and only Max's common sense might avert further tragedy.
It will take a great deal of courage and honesty from all involved if they're to find a happy ever after.

2) Bad Medicine
When Billy tells Silver that the hospital counsellor blamed his lack of sex with Gates for their recent break-up, Silver insists they report her to Eleanor. As someone with a complicated approach to relationships and sexuality, Silver is determined to support Billy and bring Hudson down a peg.

3) (There Must Be Some) Misunderstanding
Eleanor calls Silver into her office to broach a delicate matter. Those bruises however are not what she thinks.

4) Like a Valentine’s Day
Jack and Silver discuss the expenses and complications of polyamory at Valentine's Day.

One of the items on my to do list is to sort out and update my icons and LJ and DW, make them the same on both sites and choose some new icons for some of my new interests.

I'd gathered some new icons already and have spent some time looking at comms to find some others. I went back through my folder of saved icons which included some of my own icons – I was surprised how much I liked some of my older work.

I used to make icons quite often and clearly got better. I'm still rusty but as I still couldn't find exactly what I wanted (show, character, season of show, etc) I decided to make a few of my own.
So these aren't my 'best work' but I'm uploading them anyway ;) I also wanted to see how they look onscreen before I choose between a couple.
