December Craft post
Dec. 14th, 2025 03:34 pmI haven't done much crafting this year but what better time than Christmas? Under the cut are three projects, a needle felted bauble, a 'snowglobe' with papercraft and another 'snowglobe' with modelling clay.
One felted bauble, a sheep.
This is an extra gift for my brother-in-law's parents who are Welsh. I've made penguins before but this bauble is a sheep.
The picture collage shows the work's progress, polystyrene ball and felt with felting tool and mat. The face was too flat so I bulked out the face shape and it looked more like a sheep once the ears went on!

Snowglobes
Last year McDonald's had some window stickers of a McD's in a snowglobe and my nephew really liked them. He loves models (has model railway) and Christmas and snowglobes There is a real vintage McDonalds musical snowglobe that is super expensive. So I decided to make him something on a similar theme for Yule this year. (Me and my sister try to do a handmade or otherwise personalised gift for Yule outside of Christmas, like needle felted dogs, pyrography boxes, fanvids, and so on.)
I found and resized some images for the plastic snowglobe which I got from The Works for just £1.50 (stationary, craft, discount book shop). I made an a4 sheet with all the resized images with two each of a McDonald's sign, a McDonald's building in the snow, a Christmas tree. and a tiny Coca-Cola van that came with tabs for sticking it together into a 3d model.
I glued the sign, tree, and building back to back. The van was difficult, not only because I'm not that dexterous, but the shiny heavyweight paper didn't like the glue. Mum suggested a paperclip and that not only held the van together but gave it a nice flat base.
I added a small 'floor' to raise the buildings up inside the globe a bit and stuck down the building where I'd left a tab folded down, and the van. The sign and tree I stuck down using pieces of paper straws cut into small pieces and trimmed down the middle to grip the paper.

For my other nephew I got another snow globe and some air dry modelling clay. I had a Christmas tree from a sale set of Christmas items for miniature modelling. He loves a film we've watched a few times now, The Christmas Dragon.
I made a dragon and it's not a great representation of the baby dragon in the movie but it's a dragon! I decorated the tree with more clay, ribbon, and a bead for the top, plus square beads wrapped in clay for presents. I used more white clay to glue the tree and dragon in place and decorate the base.

I didn't add 'snow' because it would just stick to the paper and/or knock things over if too heavy!
