An update in which I feel I'm constantly repeating myself


Internet is still not fixed. We did get another engineer out who said the previous dickheads who refused to lift the slabs had marked the job as complete, which is why no follow up until we complained again. He was very apologetic and sent a note to his manager and gave his contact details in case we don't hear back so he can push it.

Whereforeart thou summer? It's sometimes temperate but frequently chilly, lots of rain, grey days. It rained yesterday (my dad's 72nd birthday which also happens to be St Swithin's Day) so legend says it'll rain for the next 40 days and the rain from last night continued well into this morning.

It's a busy last week of term so lots of end of year school admin to do. Eldest nephew's leavers assembly was today, an emotional time.

I've tried to catch up on my reading here at DW but still have a few tabs open and a whole inbox to sort at some point.

I'm behind on GYWO, not loads but a bit and that sucks too but I'm struggling to write at the moment. Maybe I'll get back to it soon. I have a load of challenges including graphics to do for lands-of-magic.
I am absolutely not signing up for anything else right now!

Considering how much rain we've had recently, I'm not sure another 40 days will feel any different!

We have rural America internet issues here and it can be infuriating. No cell service, crappy internet that is still running through phone wires so essentially dial-up, satellite is pricey! Hope they fix your situation!

All that cold front up at the top of the globe is why we're getting all this heat in the middle. Strange summer indeed!

Ugh, I'm sorry about the continuing internet problems, how annoying for you!

I forgot about St Swithin's Day. Uh oh! Looks like we're in for a wet summer. But tbh I'd rather that than a heatwave. I don't do well in heatwaves, I melt.

That sounds about right with the dickheads marking it as complete! Hope they get their act together soon.

Last week of term rush is definitely hitting here as well (I don't work in a school, but in a role that has a lot to do with them and always gets very busy in the last week of term, then quiet in the holidays. I always recommend to new starters that they take some leave in August because it's quiet enough that the team mascot could cope). Leavers assemblies are a bit of a way off for me yet, but it will definitely feel strange when Isabella (the oldest of the four) has hers. (She's in Year 3 at the moment, and there's already discussion about her going to secondary school. From what I gather, the nearest one isn't supposed to be any good, so her parents have already decided on one further away for her, she's aware of this and is trying to refuse to go!)

I think I'm slowly getting there with lands_of_magic, although my character study is getting slowly out of hand.

Writing can be difficult. I want to get back into writing, but the motivation hasn't been there. I am thinking maybe something small to start with. I hope the words start flowing for you here soon!
