It has been a weekend

It has been a Weekend.
1) I've had and am still having internet issues which is frustrating. Wifi is on, then slow, and then off. Certain sites are slow to load, others won't function. There have been issues with ISP in the area but they're supposed to be fixed now. Might be router or our wifi extender. /sigh/
This means I'm struggling to keep with anything. I did manage to post the mega music mix with songs relating to colours which was good because I'd put a lot of work in and needed to make the deadline! I also discovered some new songs while making it which was good.
2) Youngest nephew came down what looks like norovirus on Friday evening. All the weekend plans went out of the window, including needing his and sis's baptism to be postponed. He's still being ill so they've called 111 and were told to get in touch with GP. Fingers crossed.
3) I did go to church and it was Pentecost and I still wore my red dress for the annual congratation pic. One of the young girls, 11ish, saved the day when Reverend Mandy's husband couldn't get his phone camera to work and the girl discovered he was using 'time lapse' and not 'timer'!
4) We've had good weather finally, though with some cloud cover and strong cooler winds so I've been able to read outside a little in lieu of doomscrolling as I'm wifi lacking, but not as much as I'd have liked.
5) Talking with
melagan, re the question she answered about "what have you got in your pockets"? /obligatory gollum reference/
Having had kids she's learned that one approaches with extreme care, what's in those little pockets before going into the laundry. Hopefully, it's nothing that moves.
My response: "My brother in law is just as much a culprit for putting things in wash without emptying pockets. Loose change more than once and one time a screw from doing DIY.
Speaking of things that move: amazingly one time sis had washed a throw so a quick, half-load job. I opened the washing machine to help her put the throw on the line and there was a butterfly, still alive clinging to the door. We put it outside on a plant and it flew away. It must have been above the water level, an incredibly lucky escape."
6) I'm still editing the unconventional courtship fic. I don't need wifi for that. I'm on the text-to-speech part, with Balabolka reading to me I'm more likely to catch mistakes and clumsy sentence construction that I'd skim over when reading it for myself.
7) A cute OFMD merman love drawing "Don't Die" by mific at drawesome or directly at AO3

Date: 2024-05-20 07:39 pm (UTC)I hope your nephew gets better soon. Me and my daughter had norovirus before Christmas one year, we just basically lay on the sofa for days watching Christmas movies, so it was quite a good time of year. Still awful though.
I'm glad you got to church and what an amazing story about the lucky butterfly!
Oh isn't it fun getting a narrator to read out a story to you! I wonder sometimes what I was trying to write 😅

It was such a lucky butterfly!
LOL, yes. I found a sentence that I'd reworded but not completely so it was "Were you wearing that dress at the time because if so he was then he was a fool." That was an easy fix but I've sometimes had a "what did I mean" over a phrase or a misspelling. And especially if I've handwritten something! ;)

I have twice shut annoying flies in the dishwasher when they are trying to get in there as I'm loading it, but haven't switched it on. I left them in there for 20 minutes. The first one—I have never seen a fly come buzzing out of anywhere so fast, he zoomed out of the dishwasher and out of the back door, which is next to the dishwasher. The second one—he sat on the floor of the dishwasher all forlorn. I felt so sorry for him that I picked him up and put him outside in the sun til he flew off.
I often dictate my stories to Word, and the things it comes up with OMG! It adds imaginary people’s names that it thinks it heard, and when I use naughty words e.g. Fuck, bollocks, blow job, it puts ****** instead! 🤣 It is very prudish.

Date: 2024-05-23 12:05 pm (UTC)Oh gosh, I'd have probably done the same even though I really hate bluebottles getting inside the house. Outside I've rescued more than one bee or hoverfly from the birdbath or, in summer, the paddling pool!
LOL, I had no idea Word was so prudish!
It's taken me ages to get the point of listening to the text being read to me without cringing. I don't think I could dictate fiction! I know a lot of people find it helpful - if they can get around a prudish Word I suppose!

Date: 2024-05-23 04:36 pm (UTC)Yes I got so annoyed with the flies that I thought 'well you can stay in the dishwasher if you're so keen on it.' Obviously I wouldn't switch it on but it was so funny when that one came zooming out at top speed, eager to get away.
Word is so funny. It's probably a setting that I could turn off but makes me laugh so I leave it on. Because Word often THINKS it hears rude words but I didn't say them e.g. I said 'he nibbled on the cake' and Word put 'he ******* on the cake.' I assume it thought I said 'nipples' 🤣😂
Well I used 'dictate' in the loosest of terms. I don't dictate perfectly formed sentences and paragraphs, they need A LOT of work afterwards. It's just that my eyes and hands get tired, I've got loads of ideas spilling out and I can't type fast enough. So I just say it all out loud and then the ideas and scenes are down on paper and not forgotten.
