Stargate (tumblr post rec)

I'm rarely at Tumblr these days but sometimes I dip in to read some GYWO promotions, occasionally look for fandom gifs, or, mostly, to read posts and reblog to my writeblr queue.
Today I saw this post and thought I'd share given how many Stargate fans seem to be around judging from how often it came up in the Snowflake challenge :)

The post has a short video clip of a Stargate themed float at a carnival (tag says mardi gras). It has a ramp leading up to a stargate with rotating inner symbol ring, and the rear has a pyramid with rotating upper tip.

Yes :) It's rare you get fandom in real life outside of actual fan conventions and theme parks so this is lovely to see!

It's so cleverly made isn't it! I presume it's wood. Surely it can't be stone, that would be too heavy.

Yes; wood or maybe fibre glass as that's lightweight? Lightweight metal like aluminium? with all the gears hidden inside? It's a mystery but it looks good!

Or...could they make it in a 3D printer and put the parts together?

Yes, that's the most likely isn't it? Make a design and get a 3D printer to make the parts, then fit them together. 💡
