Challenge #15 - Fandom Snowflake Challenge's 2023 Fandom Wrapped!

I really wanted to use the AO3 Wrapped but I can't get it to work for me. So I'll take a more random approach

Your top 5 fandoms for 2023 were:
How do I figure this? What I most watched? What I most wrote? What I most read fanfic for? What I most loved outside of this? Here's an attempt to involve all of those in some way

1) Jungle Cruise (movie) - I watched it three times which is very unusal for me; there's only a few movies I've rewatched several times. That third time I justified as research for my Small Fandom Big Bang - and again, writing in a movie fandom rather than TV one is more unusual. I read most of the fic on AO3 including some crossovers.

2) Star Trek: Picard - I read a ton of fic for this but mostly fix-it fic, as per two of the recs I made in a previous Snowflake post. I made a more angst sticking to canon piece for a genprompt bingo fill and recorded a couple of ideas for more au/fix-it-pre-canon fic in my endless spreadsheet.

3) 13 Reasons Why - I binged all of season one when I was petsitting one weekend and had Netflix access. It's not the best way to experience a show with such heavy themes but I wanted to finish the season. I read a fair amount of fic for it, made a rec list for it as a genmprompt bingo fill, and have written and posted two fics to AO3 with

4) Blood & Treasure - there's very little fic but I wrote one ficlet, and a crossover for [community profile] intoabar with SurrealEstate and I still have a ton of ideas I've listed on the spreadsheet. It's a fandom I fell in love with for reasons this isn't the post to talk about it in, and while it doesn't show up amount of posted work/fics I've read it's dear to me. I requested it for Yuletide 2022 (along with SurrealEstate and was blessed with a fic for each!)

5) Ready or Not, Witcher - I've read a ton of fic in both of these fandoms and written quite a few in the latter.
Honourable mentions: Revenge because Nolan/Emily is one of my OTPs and I still write for them sometimes including a couple of fics in 2023, From, Good Omens (which I'm still working through fic from s1!)

Your top 5 fandom spaces (Discord, Twitter, etc.) in 2023 were:
AO3, Dreamwidth, Youtube. I only go to Tumblr to add to the Writing blog queue and read writing stuff, or to search for particular fandom things if I can't find them elsewhere.

The top 5 things you did to contribute to fandom in 2023 were:
1) Read fic and left comments/bookmarked with notes
2) Wrote and posted to AO3
3) participated in communities including at [community profile] lands_of_magic including leaving comments on other's entries
4) Posted graphics, mostly icons, made for the landcomm and bingo challenges
5) Read more at Dreamwidth so interacted with more people on a fannish and personal level

Your top 5 most appreciated fandom contributions were:
Agh, I used the sort and filter and fiddled with bookmarks vs hits - and I try very hard these days not to get attached to audience/interaction as a measure of quality or success so this is always a bit fraught - and this is what I came up with

1) New Friends a Magnum PI fluff fic with 4 bookmarks and 569 hits
2) All the Best Tales End Happily Ever After a Cinderella AU Magnum P.I fic with 4 bookmarks and 471 hits
3) A Convenient Warlock a Weird West John Constantine/Sara Lance (Legends of Tomorrow) AU with 4 bookmarks and 140 hits
4) Precious Moments a Magnum PI fluff fic with 3 bookmarks and 660 hits
5) I've got several other fics with 3 bookmarks and those with fewer bookmarks but more hits. I'll mention two Witcher fics
Grooming a double drabble about Jaskier and Geralt's hair, 314 hits, 51 kudos ; No Gentle Love Affair a Jaskier/Yennefer hatesex oneshot with 118 hits and 14 kudos

Leverage, 13 Reasons Why, The Borgias, and The Exorcist are also represented, and I also posted in fandoms Sister Boniface Mysteries, Star Trek: Picard, Wellington Paranormal, Deception (2018), Ghost Whisperer, The Equalizer (2021), Blood & Treasure (and 1 crossover with SurrealEstate,) Jungle Cruise (2018), Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz, From (TV 2022), Murdoch Mysteries, Revenge (TV), and some older Alias fics (all Sark related) that I did minor edits to and posted to AO3 for the first time and which did surprisingly well.

Bonus questions:

Your fandom personality in 2023 was: (i.e. Fandom Eeyore, Twitter Refugee, Discord Party Animal, etc.)
Intermittent Enjoyer. I go through phases of reading All the Fic and writing All the Things and ensuring I'm up to date with reading my DW circle. Other times I do other things.

This ties in with In 2023, you discovered: because I'm still figuring out the real life/online balance and trying hard to focus on doing things I most enjoy. I'll push myself for the sake of, say, genprompt_bingo or a landcomm challenge, but sometimes that only gets posted to my personal journal or an f-locked community post. I only have to share what I want, when I'm ready. And try to keep reminding myself that it's not about number of hits or bookmarks, it's about how much that work meant to me.
Which is why question 5 was a bit tough; I'm surprised and glad those fics did so well, but there's other things I adored that got little to no attention.

Your fandom home in 2023 was:
Dreamwidth felt more like home again in 2023 as I got more involved more regularly ♥
