Challenge #5 which is a sort of scavenger hunt for photos/pics/descriptions of things from a list. I've only done 3 items but that's ok.
6.Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood
I thought long and hard about this because I have so many much loved childhood tv shows and I think I might make a separate post for all the links/vids.
So I went with something I had a physical thing to take a photo of, a fridge magnet of Bagpuss the titular character in a lovely little show about a cloth cat and his friends who comes to life when his owner is away. She leaves them lost things she's found and the mice who come to life from a tiny pipe organ fix them up and hope the original owners will come and retrieve them. Lots of songs and rhymes.

A clip on Youtube from my favourite episode. The mice discover a tiny factory and claim they can make chocolate biscuits (anyone who knows the story of Brer Rabbit and the Crocodile Eggs knows what's actually going on!)
8. A book or song with a color in the title
I'm going with Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand"
"On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man, In a dusty black coat with a red right hand"
This is the theme song for "Peaky Blinders" which I watched the first two seasons of [side note: I'm a Brummie ;) ]
I also noticed how it featured in "Scream" (2022) aka Scream V though I was surprised when looking this up to find the track has been played in all the Scream movies except Scream 4 for copyright reasons.
Scream (2022) is by its own meta definition a requel, part reboot, part sequel and so it was inevitable the track would be used in this movie. Screenrant has an article about the importance of the Red Right Hand song and how its inclusion often gives clues to the identity of the killer, while noting that "By the time Scream 3 arrived in 2000, “Red Right Hand” had become associated with the franchise so much that artist Nick Cave wrote a new version of the track specifically for the trilogy-ending sequel."
According to the wiki article for the song, the title is from a line in John Milton's epic poem "Paradise Lost" that refers to divine vengeance.
9. Something only someone in your fandom would understand
I went with paperclip.
Why: I don't remember it being used so much in the original "MacGyver" though any 3 items could be used to construct whatever was needed. It did feature heavily in the early seasons of the reboot starring Lucas Till who also carried the trademark utility knife, until this quirk got forgotten about by the writers.
In fact this happens often and I hate it. Character has a fun quirk or defining characterisitic and the writers over time iron it out until character becomes more bland/normal and main objective becomes settling down with a love interest. You can have character development without losing the essence of who they are or taking away all their uniqueness!

Date: 2024-01-19 12:10 am (UTC)"The Red Right Hand" is a great pick, such an atmospheric, memorable song. My association goes back even further, to a 1994 episode of The X-Files, "Ascension." One of my X-Phile friends had theredrighthand as her LJ user name. Good times.

Date: 2024-01-19 04:43 pm (UTC)Thank you! It's an amazing song. I must have seen that X-files episode but don't remember it from the title alone, but I love that someone ran with the song as a username based on the episode :D Everyone's usernames have some reason behind them and it's always fun to hear about them!
