Challenge #4 IceBreaker Challenge! Tell us about yourself.
To begin, I'm going to borrow
tellshannon815's idea of posting the image made for a
lands_of_magic challenge on the same theme:

Me with my nephews, pub lunch (that particular one is fish with red wine :D), and lots of photos of animals some past and current pets and animals I like. A pile of books because I used to read a lot and still dabble in books, ebooks, and read fanfic, and a sunflower because it is one of my fave flowers.
That challenge was to describe yourself in on-fannish terms but I'll add to that here. I'm multifannish and mostly involved in TV fandoms but sometimes I surprise myself by getting into a movie fandom and when that happens it hits pretty hard. I read, write, make icons and sometimes famixes and less often currently fanvids. Writer is a key part of who I feel I am.
More personal stuff; I've gone back and forth about including these but decided to go with it. I am who I am who at this point in time and even if I didn't mention them they're a part of me and shape the ways I view things and interact with things.
I'm still interested in mythology and fairy tales but last year I started going to church (Anglican, we have a female reverend) and got baptised in November. I'm now of the opinion that faith is a journey and where I will be in five years time might be something different again, for if you'd told me 5 years ago I'd go to church on Christmas Day 2023, sing carols, take Holy Communion, and then in January get up and sing at a church fundraising karaoke evening I'd have said you were insane.
As per the quote in my updated profile, “Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.” C S Lewis; I can no longer identify as being Left though I'm not wholly welcome on the Right but as many others have said things seem now more on the lines of libertarian vs authoritarian, where I'm for less authoritarianism. Related, I think there's something to be said about quality of life as summed up by Kingsley Amis as "No pleasure is worth giving up for the sake of two more years in a geriatric home" which is something to think on.
I'm asexual but leaning heterosexual because when I imagine what the ideal relationship would be for me, it would be a deeply romantic one with a man. I prefer non-explicit fics most of the time but things that hit my kinks are another matter.
I don't have children and have never wanted to. I do however love my nephews and am an involved aunt. They're a very important part of my life. We're a close family in general. I don't currently have pets but love my sister's pets dearly and am currently very sad we lost the elder dog - we had 13 wonderful years with him for which I am very grateful.
I have concerns about my future at work due to things beyond my control but as they are out of my control and no firm decisions have been made in my workplace that's a problem for another day.
