Snowflake Challenge 2024 - challenge 3

meridian_roseChallenge #3 Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive.
In the abstract I'd love fansites to be a Thing again. You'd get a whole website dedicated to a movie, a show, an actor, with dozens of pages of photos & screencaps, audio clips, news articles, and fanfic links. Even more niche shows could have a decent fandom presence but now the big fandoms happen on Tumblr and that's not a nice environment long term.
Also an AO3 for fanvids because Youtube is still the biggest vid platform but keeps cracking down on fannish/transformative works. Unworkable for free, difficult even if paid for, but I miss the heydey of vidding too.
Also when I took a break I found when I returned that a fandom friend had left the platform. They'd sent me messages during my hiatus and I've tried reaching out on DW, LJ, AO3 but to no avail. I hope they're doing well. I'd love to reconnect with them, a futile wish.
More specific but unlikely, vids or recs if someone seen something similar. I've always been an amatuer vidder but lately my pc is getting old and slow. I wanted to upgrade it last summer but finances weren't there with costs higher than usual. The last couple of vids I made I haven't shared widely because I'm still not happy with them and I can't easily edit them further with current pc.
I have had several fanvids in my "projects spreadsheet" for a while and never got round to them even for various reasons. I'll share a few I've long hoped to make one day or see someone make:
1) song: Trigger Happy by Weird Al Yankovic fandom: Justified. Such a fun song with a Beach Boys inspired musical theme. I'd be remiss in not rec'ing this Burn Notice Trigger Happy vid!
However I think Justified would be a great fit too. Raylan did "shoot daddy" and "drug crazed Nazi" is Boyd at certain times! Also filled kitty cat full of lead, Boyd again shot by Raylan. "Shoot first and ask questions later" and "better watch it punk or I'm going to h ave to blow you away"; Raylan's famed for his "if you pull, I'll put you down". Between Raylan, Rachel, and sniper Tim ("new semi-automatic weapon with a laser sight") with a there are loads of suitable moments from getting "liquored up" to "shooting anything that moves"..
2) song; Hey Mr Policeman by Brad Paisely fandom: Justified. I first heard this song watching a BBC Robin Hood fanvid and there a lot of fandoms this could apply to but again I think a Boyd vs Raylan vid would be a lot of fun.
3) song: Criminal
by Britney Spears, fandom: V (2009), ship: Erica/Hobbes. I had such passion for this show and this ship (and Jack/Erica/Hobbes OT3) but I never wrote all the fic I wanted to - there are entries in the project spreadsheet including this idea for a fanvid. Erica's the federal agent forced to find allies in unlikely places to fight the aliens. Hobbes is the wisecracking ex-military mercenary. There were sparks. From Erica's POV, he's dangerous but undeniably necessary and attractive; "All I know, should've let go, but no; 'Cause he's a bad boy with a tainted heart; And even I know this ain't smart; But mama I'm in love with a criminal; And this type of love isn't rational, it's physical"
4) song: Code Monkey by Jonathan Coulton fandom: Leverage.
Again I heard this in a deserving vid recCode Monkey [Topher Bennett] Dollhouse from Dollhouse with Topher as the code monkey up against his boss Mr Dominic but this would be so much fun with Hardison arguing especially with team leader Nate but sometimes Eliot while falling for Parker. A bit more crack but fandom always improves with some crack now and again

5) song Rasputin by Boney M fandom: The Borgias (Showtime)
One of my favourite songs ever and a fandom dear to my heart - in fact I got matched on it and wrote a new fic for the 2023 Yuletide. I picture Rodrigo as Rasputin the "preacher women would desire" and his relationship with Giulia, with Cesare reluctantly coerced by crowd with shots of the cardinals against Rodrigo (demands...to do something about this ourageous man), with Rodrigo caonically surviving a poisoning attempt (drank it all and said "I'll be fine") and then Cesare as sniper in s3 for "shot him until he was dead". Lots of great moments that could be used for this one. Oh, thoseRussiansBorgias.

Date: 2024-01-16 06:09 pm (UTC)Users try all sorts of pitch adjustment for soundtrack and colourisation for video to try and avoid it and slap the transformative work boilerplate but I think a lot of vidders have given up after too many strikes. Some copyright owners allow their work to be used & just add a label directing people to the official music channel also. Others don't and they're shooting themselves in the foot.
