And maybe check out Karni Mata, a female Hindu sage whose temple is home to rats which are considered sacred. A person born under the Chinese Horoscope of the sign of the rat "is respected and considered a courageous, enterprising person". Other cultures and superstitions also see many positive aspects to the rat as animal, companion, or totem.

I don't currently have any pet rats of my own :( but my sister has two adorable boy ratties that I sometimes get to play with.

I love rats! The intelligent little buggers! Where the husband and I live now, we aren't allowed pets and it hurts me almost physically each day. I've always had a houseful of critters! I finally talked my husband into asking the landlord if I could have a guinea pig. Not the same as a rat- but I'll take it!

Yay for rat love! Boo for no pets. It angers me so much that children are legally allowed almost everywhere but pets can be banned from anywhere :( Pets can be a vital companion!
I was looking into a piggie but they need a much bigger cage than I have space for, and I ended up with a hamster this time. But I do think guinea pigs make lovely pets too and I hope you get your wish.
That, or you're going to have to come up with a need for an assistance animal which overrules most 'no pets' laws :P

I thought of that! The therapy pet angle! My husband laughed at me! Jerk! Nah... he'd really like a dog too and some day we'll adopt one. Have a great day, hug and peace out!
