NaNoWriMo - Day Five - character profile (Kerine)

Kerine is Bryony's older sister. Dark skinned, she's a practial minded, no-nonsene woman. She's just 5 feet 2 inches tall but she's a woodsmith and she's incredibly strong. She is not to be underestimated.

Kerine is good at dealing with people, sweet talking or hard bargaining as necessary. She's skilful, compassionate, and reliable. She's had a few boyfriends but has not found anyone to settle down with, least of all one who understands her need to keep her family together – Bryony is part of the "package".

It's Kerine who insists they go and confront the sorcerer when the magic begins to fail, and it's she who promises to bring Sabrina home to him. Leaving Bryony to take care of him gives her peace of mind about both of them, for while Bryony is capable of taking care of herself she often lacks the confidence to do so.

She's likely ESFJ (Myers-Briggs) and has a lot in common with the Knight or Queen of Pentacles.

Kerine tackles setbacks in her stride, but even she's stunned when she finally finds out what has happened to Sabrina. It will take all of her ingenuity and courage to rescue the sorceress, and it will be a race against time to get her home to see her dying brother. But Kerine made a promise and if it takes dressing up in a ballgown, lying through her teeth, or killing to protect Sabrina, so be it.
