Hark! how the bells, sweet silver bells
All seem to say, throw cares away.
Christmas is here, bringing good cheer
To young and old, (meek and the bold)
Ding, dong, ding, dong, that is their song,
With joyful ring, (all caroling)
One seems to hear words of good cheer
From everywhere, (filling the air)

Carol of the Bells" is based on a folk chant known in Ukrainian as "Shchedryk". It was associated with the coming New Year which, in pre-Christian Ukraine, was originally celebrated with the coming of spring in April.
The song is recognized by a four-note ostinato motif . It has been arranged many times for different genres, styles of singing and settings and has been covered by artists and groups of many genres: classical, metal, jazz, rock, and pop. The piece has also been featured in films, television shows, and parodies.

An example of one such style is
this performance
by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra which "combines traditional, classical music with a modern heavy metal style. The Trans Siberian Orchestra Carol of the Bells rock opera version can be found on Christmas Trilogy CD by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra which combines "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Carol of the Bells". I absolutely love Trans-Siberian Orchestra version of this song. I saw them perform in live and it was awesome. They put on a good show.
