Slightly belated where I've been, where I'm at, where I'm going post.
I'm going to change up the format a little this month.

Last month I wanted to

Post some of the March work in my journal. And I did.

Try to get a trope bingo line. Done.

Carry on. I don't really have firm goals for this month. I just want to get through it as best as possible. And I got a few things done, and didn't get on with others, and I can't complain too much.

In April:

Landcomms and challenges
I participated in all the legendland challenges and had a lot of fun doing so.

I participated in the wlreunion phase, ending this week, and although it lacked the sense of community it did during the original whedonland heyday, this year's reunion has been a lot of fun.

I participated in thedeepbluesea a multifandom DW comm. I was wary of getting involved but I'm only doing the challenges I want and I'm getting and leaving comments on things – you don't have to know a fandom intimately to appreciate artwork! (In fact I've become interested in fandoms via things like gifs, fanvids, and fic by authors I already read :D)

I realised I've only been doing the minimum to get by at writerverse. While I've met some great people, read some great fic and poetry, had some good feedback, and I've had the impetus to write more original fic for the comm, this most recent phase just hasn't done it for me. It's felt more burdensome than inspiring, so when it finishes shortly, I've decided to sit the next phase out and see what happens.
Which means I need to work on finding other "reasons" to write original fic. All the general bingo comms allow/encourage original fic as do some other challenge comms. I still have prompts left on the one hundred tales table. There's a writing prompt comm I read at DW that I could submit things to if I got the urge. So I have options.

Technology

My computer wouldn't start. OH NOES.
I tried to be calm and logical and to fix it myself. I replaced the BIOS battery, and then asked for help.
And a replacement power supply unit fixed the problem easily, and as it was a spare kept from an old machine, it was free.

And then LJ suspended my account, which was a mistake, but their customer service sucks beyond belief. But it did get sorted.

I still don't think ebooks are a replacement for books, but I'm enjoying my ereader more now it has a case which makes it easier to hold and a stylus that makes interacting it with it easier. I've only found one Heyer novel for free as an epub, but I rediscovered Dorothy Sayer and have been enjoying the Lord Peter Whimsy mysteries. It's nice to be able to find books for free :D

House Sitting

I was looking forward to this. And I loved their new shower so much. And the bedding. But not so much their complicated heating system which I had problems working. And all the issues with trying to use not!my!computer.

The weather wasn't great – though I got to eat outside twice. I was looking forward to using the garden more. And as all the free roaming pets were in kennels, and I didn't dare get the degu out in case he escaped (though his chirping kept me company and he and the mice took treats by hand) I actually started to feel lonely. And I was under the weather and barely slept Wednesday night so I came home a day earlier. I did go back the next day and checked on the pets and collected the rest of my things though.

So I didn't get any writing done, but I did have a few ideas. And I got to watch some movies including "The Hobbit". So a mixed bag there.

Generally
It wasn't too bad a month but the last few days and start of May I did feel anxious and lonely and generally down. I keep trying to step back and acknowledge how I'm feeling, in an attempt to see it as an event that will pass. It does mean though that reduced LJ activity or not getting to spend time with someone when I was expecting to, etc, feels worse than usual. (Although that people noticed my LJ was down and notified me before I was even aware of it made me feel loved!)
I posted 11k of fic to my journal, which was pretty nice.
I can't think of any other major 'yay' or 'noes' so I think it was a fairly neutral month and all the downs had ups and vice versa which is why I changed the format a bit this time.

May
This month I want:

Post original fic I think this is important with the writerverse decision. I don't want to get out of the habit of writing my own stuff – though I have used original fic for bingo cards before, so it's become natural for me to do so than previously.
Cross-posting I post to ff.net less but there are a few pieces that might garner a wider audience if I posted to there. And there are older pieces that need archiving there and/or AO3/my journal.
Be happy Try to keep on recognising my emotions are a little skewed until they're not, and do things that make me happy and, where possible, avoid things that are stressful. My financial situation is going to become dire again shortly though, so…
