If you've never had a particularly big boned cat before, you might not understand—they are the hungriest fellas imaginable. Now, it's important to note that any cat who is in an unhealthy range of weight should be seen by a purrfect pet professional. However, when cats are on their weight loss journey, it's a little bit meowlarious to watch their plump little bodies wobbling around their food bowl aimlessly, searching for seconds and thirds. We do it for their health, no matter how down and out they might seem in the moment. They'll be thanking us when they can walk up the stairs without being totally winded.

Since chunky bois do exist in the world, either on their weight loss journeys already or telling themselves "one more Churu" before they begin, there are plenty of historical photos of the chunky bois doing what they do best—being cute and round. Scroll below, but be careful. You might be left wanting more!

Blue collar men constantly surprise me. Whether they're fixing my in-home plumbing in an instant, scaling buildings to wash windows, or having a lunch break in the construction site shade, working men seem to always have a goal in mind. This farm hand was working a routine day—maintenancing all of the tractors and testing out the farm facilities—when his entire life shifted, throwing his delicate goal out in the wind. Like all cats do, the tabby cat kitten he discovered in the cogs of his tractor would furever make him think twice before firing up the farming engines.

By some miracle, the kitty was unhurt, living happily like a pawdorable parasite in the tractor until she realized she could have a plushy indoor life alongside 4 other furry compatriots—and that certainly beats being a farm cat!

Blind skateboarder creates 'world-first' adaptive skatepark: 'I've never had a place where I can skate with full confidence'

About seven years ago, he started dreaming of creating the world’s first adaptive skatepark right in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

Finally, the park is a reality.

Called “The Ranch,” the 5,000-square-foot skatepark is completely accessible, allowing both seasoned low-vision boarders to take it for a spin and newcomers to the sport to feel welcome.

Everyone should have access to opportunities for physical activity and creativity.

It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished! Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Go!

Got any Follow Friday-related posts to share this week? Comment here with the link(s).

Here's the plan: every Friday, let's recommend some people and/or communities to follow on Dreamwidth. That's it. No complicated rules, no "pass this on to 7.328 friends or your cat will die".

These are active communities in Dreamwidth from Spring 2025 . They include things I've posted, but only the active ones; the thematic posts also list dormant communities of interest. This list includes some communities that I've found and saved but haven't made it into thematic posts yet. This post covers J-Z.

See my Follow Friday Master Post for more topics.

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways. One minute, you're a dog person walking through life with only the fantasy of cat ownership in mind, and the next minute the CDS is hanging down your door with a trio of orange kittens.

Purrhaps it comes as a shock to non-cat people, but when you've been chosen as the lucky benefactor of a couple of kittens, you are morally obligated to become their new pawrent—at least until the little rascals grow into their whiskers. The ferocity of their feline accumulation sideswiped the person in this next story. Within a week, they'd been gifted, bestowed, or stumbled upon a total of 3 kitties who all needed a new mama to hold their bottle and pet their floof.

Lucky for those little beans, this woman eagerly accepted the challenge.

Someone mentioned efforts to increase use of offal.  The much simpler way to get more people to eat organ meat is to present delicious recipes using it. This is easily accomplished by scouting cuisines that already use a lot of organ meat, such as soul food or some Asian cuisines. Use everything but the squeal!

[Landing #7, day 3, a bit before six a.m. local time]

:: After a long day, the Ashton family, and Backstep, are sitting down to dinner. Conversation turns to longer term plans. Part of the Sidestep Travelers universe. ::

Smashup had just finished the bridge of “House of the Rising Sun when a curly-haired preteen stepped into the living room, carrying a tall tumbler full of lemonade. “Hi. I brought you something to drink.” He brought the tumbler to the end table near Backstep’s head and eased it onto a leaf-shaped cork coaster. “I’m Derek.”

“I’m Smashup.” He grinned slyly. “Has Zipper fallen asleep sitting up yet?”

From tiny guitars to pint-sized pianos and even full-on drum kits, these cool cats are putting on the purrformance of a lifetime and honestly, we can't get enough. Some are absolutely shredding like feline rockstars, paws flying and whiskers wild, while others are just vibing out, lost in the rhythm with their toes on the keys and a faraway look in their eyes. Whether they're giving full-on jazz lounge energy or headbanging like they're on tour, these kitties are total meowsic legends in the making.

No two feline performers are alike. Some take their stage time seriously, laser-focused on their next note (or maybe the fly buzzing nearby), while others are clearly just here for the snacks and applause. But every single one of them brings undeniable star power. You'll catch some mid-meow, as if they're belting out a power ballad, while others softly tap the keys like they're composing a love song for their favorite sunbeam.

It's a pawsitive, feel-good concert of fur, fluff, and feline flair. These cats didn't come to play... well, actually, they did
