Some photos and some thoughts

Me feeding a goat on our visit to Hoo Farm Park

My hair is pretty long. I usually wear it tied back but here's a pic of it unplaited and one of it in a bun

With my nephews at a local event
Those photos were uploaded to Cloudinary which I'm using to replace Photobucket. I tried to download some of my folders from the website before deleting my account but did not get them all because Photobucket would fail sometimes and then I'd have to request it again, pass the "are you human" test, see if the link worked, over and over.
I wasn't too concerned because I keep all my photos and fiction and fanworks. Or so I thought. However I've got things saved from Trope Bingo Round 3 but not others. I can only think I filed some of the things I made and then accidentally deleted the folder with some items still in it. This was early 2014 so I've emptied the recycle bin many times since then!
The original fic was mostly safe, I saved a copy of one from Dreamwidth. The original fic meta was safe, one fanwork meta I saved from the website. Some of the graphics were on my hard drive, some I thankfully saved from photobucket. However a few graphics have been lost – the Legend of the Seeker college au I can't find the text for anywhere on my pc and I found only one smaller size of the two graphics which I'd put on Pinterest. The larger size images are lost. I've updated the post with the small graphic and saved the image+text.
It's not great loss but disheartening and makes me worry if I've truly got everything else safe as I believe.
I've done almost everything at AO3 because I privileged the most recent fic banners and then worked backwards.
At LJ/DWI've got around 205 posts to update, some with one or two images/photos/gifs, some with many (20in20 icons for example) and it's slow going.
Where I made a DW post and cross-posted to LJ the images are usually being updated but where I imported from LJ they aren't. So the DW images are updated but the LJ posts might never be. I have marginally more faith in DW's longevity than LJ's at this point so I'm putting my efforts in at the DW versions of the posts.
It's taken up a lot of time already dealing with this. (And it's kind of pointless but I put the work in, I feel I want to update even if no-one will go back and look at any of these) I've not written much this month.
On the plus side I found things I'd forgotten I'd written or created. I put some on Tumblr. I found original fiction I can rework for the professional blog. I enjoyed looking at some of the discussions we used to have at LJ. Some of my diary entries talk about how overwhelming my debt it is – debt I cleared this month. Many about the struggle to find a job – I have my part time clerk post now. Things that got better. Some nostalgia, some nice things.
However I do also miss the activity level; I created a lot more graphics and meta when Legendland was active for example. I wrote a lot more original fic back then (though arguably I've got two novels in editing now). There was feedback which made it seem more worthwhile and which was the fun of creating and connectivity. Entries with more than one or two comments were common back then before everyone dumped journaling for "real life" or exclusively using Tumblr or Twitter. I still find plenty of things to read at DW and LJ but fewer personal journals, and definitely receive fewer comments.
It's a decline I'm seeing on AO3 too – only BNFs get a lot of comments. (I'm still leaving a comment on every fic over 100 words long I finish reading at AO3*. It might be one or two words and in one case, as an anon, but I'm doing it. I nope out of more fics, I'm behind on my reading, but I committed to it this year and I'm doing it.)
On the other hand I've completed memes and ranted about shitty media decisions solely at Tumblr myself because that's where the action is these days. Posting fanworks or at least promo's of the fanworks to my journals is a way I try to keep active here and in light of the photobucket debacle it does prove it's worth posting things to multiple places
*sometimes I click through and it's a 3 sentence fic or drabble that I can't help but see all of it. If it's for some reason awful I don't want to have leave a positive comment. This is the reason for the wordcount.
I specified AO3 because while I try to comment at LJ/DW if I read there people are terrible at bothering to say how long a fic is which can lead to the same problem, plus I do most of my reading at AO3, and comments are more often allowed at AO3 than other sites.
I also do vids which are embedded at AO3 and which I watch more than 30 seconds of. Arbitrary rules, I have them.
I'm a little more hit and miss about graphics because quality and size varies wildly.
