Holy cow, I didn't realize this was an entire trope! That makes me sad!

I can understand in TV that actors will leave or want out or get fired, and that's life, but yeah, there are ways of writing them off that can make sense. Not just forgetting them and pretending ~they never existed~

Teen Wolf has brought out the ire of a LOT of fans by doing this. With a young cast, they were losing a bunch of actors to "better" jobs or potential pilots, and that's understandable. But then the creator started just killing them off and literally forgetting them, with no funeral scenes, no more mention they ever existed, even though they were huge parts of S1 and 2. It was somehow better when one of his favorites jumped ship to Arrow and the creator wrote him off in two sentences. One kid who hates him asks his ex-gf something like "Where's Jackson?" and the girl shrugs and answers "Still in London with his parents." And that was it. He was the big bad in S2 and his fate was tied up that briefly. I actually preferred that to mindlessly killing half the cast! ;_;
