A tongue in cheek review of the episode "Home" for
legendland, 600 words approx.
Home is almost a "Wizard of Oz" episode. When Richard wakes up back in Hartland to discover his adventures have all been a dream he might as well have started saying "And you were there…and you were there…"
We get to see George and Michael Cypher again – sort of – and Zedd is back to his crazy chicken man persona. Richard says Kahlan and his escapades with her felt very real and describes events from the earlier episodes.
However, here Hartland and not the Midlands is Oz, a dream world. Richard is actually under a spell and resisting Kahlan and Zedd's attempts to wake him.
We also get to see Darken again, who's behind the plot, and meet Giller, who's working the Powerful Magic on Richard. This spell is the spell of the Lying Moon – that's lying as in fibbing, not resting, although both are somewhat appropriate. It's only possible once every thousand years or something, another example of the Really Rare Thing happening Right This Moment. Things must have been much more peaceful before all these prophecies and Seekers started showing up.
Anyway, when the three stars of Amolous are lined up within the circle of the crescent moon, the spell puts the intended victim into a deep trance, which is what has happened to Richard. While he thinks he's talking to George or Zedd, he's actually talking to Darken, who is using the trance to make Richard reveal the location of the box of Orden. This seems like an extraordinary length to go to, but Darken hasn't had much luck so far, so maybe he's grasping at straws.
Also it was probably Giller's idea – "Pleeeease let me cast the Spell of the Lying Moon, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity unless you're ancient like Zedd or something and it would be so much fun and the ingredients aren't that expensive – oh, and we could use it on the Seeker! You could totally prank him!"
And prank Richard he does. Because when Richard gets bored of telling chicken man Zedd about his adventures – and Darken must be pissed at hearing Richard badmouthing him every five minutes – he runs into old girlfriend, Anna, conveniently back in town.
Richard is talking out loud in his trance and Kahlan probably gets rather jealous when she hears him talking about another woman. Only remember, this is Darken posing as Anna. And so as Anna tries to seduce the location of the box of Orden from Richard, the cuts back to Darken make it quite clear that Darken is the one seducing Richard. People have pointed this out before in far more amusing ways, but there you go. I used up all my good material on Giller earlier.

Darken certainly looks as if the spell is an erotic experience
Richard blabs the box's location to Darken/Anna which is Oh Noes! But also if they don't wake Richard up before all the stars vanish behind the moon or something, Richard will be lost forever. Kahlan cries a tear on Richard's hand which (a) wakes him up when shaking him didn't, wtf? and (b) could be seen as a precursor for the season two finale, if I thought the writers were thinking that far ahead.
So Richard wakes up and they run to get the box and hide it somewhere else.
And Kahlan asks Richard how he realized the truth and he says something about sensing her love for him or something equally saccharine, and thus ends the episode.
People have a lot of hate for this because it's a clipshow, but DARKEN TRIED TO SEDUCE RICHARD, thus your argument is invalid :D Mostly I miss Cara, which happens almost every season one episode. She'd have probably just Agieled Richard awake.
