I wanna see Santa Claus, the real real Santa
He wants to meet ol' Santa Claus
I took my brother to the department store
He wanted to show Santa his Christmas list
He stood in line and he shook like a leaf
He's only five and a half goin' on six
The Beach Boys are not really known for songs about winter, as the name suggests. "The band's early music gained popularity across the United States for its close vocal harmonies and lyrics reflecting a Southern California youth culture of surfing, cars, and romance." (x) However they did release a 1964 Christmas Album which included covers of traditional songs and five new tracks including Merry Christmas, Baby, Little Saint Nick and the above, Santa's Beard.
Santa's Beard is about a man taking his nephew to visit a department store Santa, only for the boy to pull off Santa's beard and wail about how this isn't the real Santa. The song ends with the narrator trying to calm him down, saying "He's just helping Santa Claus".
