Title: Apologies / Assurances
Characters: Honor
Word Count: 300
Rating: PG-13
Original/Fandom: Original
'Verse/Series: Kat
Prompt: For the writerverse challenge: have a character write a letter
Warnings (Non-Con/Dub-Con/etc): none
Summary: The first letter is addressed to Honor, apologising for an incident that took place during the Royal Tour. The second letter is his response.
The Most Noble Honor Duke of Valstone
We would like to extend our kindest regards to yourself and to her Supreme Majesty, Gloriana Katerina, and to offer our heartfelt thanks for her recent visit to our kingdom.
We once again offer our sincerest apologies for the misunderstanding which occurred during the aforesaid visit. Had the officers in question known from the start that the two people they arrested were not only part of the royal retinue, but also held titles of their own, events would have proceeded very differently.
It is our dearest hope that no ill will is borne towards the kingdom or our monarch, His Royal Highness, King Orion, and that relations between our two realms continue to be cordial.
With sincere respect and kindest regards
Secretary Brye
Secretary Brye,
Thank you for your recent correspondence. Her Supreme Majesty graciously accepts your apology on behalf of her realm and of her retinue. She wishes you to know that neither she or any of her party harbour any ill feelings towards King Orion or his kingdom in respect of the incident in question.
However, I would draw your attention to the fact that, in the Citadel, the holding of a title does not give one full immunity with regards to criminal activity, although I am sure you did not intend to suggest this is the practice in your kingdom.
Also, as it goes without saying, the lack of a title should not mean a person should more easily fall under suspicion, nor suffer harsher treatment or penalties as a result of their status as a commoner.
We hope to one day revisit your realm and look forward to a warm welcome. Rest assured that relations between your kingdom and the Citadel have not been damaged.
With due respect

Now I wonder where it belongs in the storyline and what all of it is actually about. :D I'd love to know more of what's behind these letters. :D
BTW how do they deliver letters in your verse? :D
