Yuletide 2015 review

I received a fantastic Dark Matter fic, I Know What I Was, What I Am by faithfulcynic, which touched on so many things I requested in my Dear Author letter. I was thrilled :D

I wrote the Da Vinci's Demons fic, Uncharted Waters DW/AO3 and the wonderful zephfair did a fantastic beta read for me. I haven't always been able to find a beta, let alone one familiar with the fandom, so this was a blessing! I had a lot of fun writing a ship I often write and one I don't usually (and including polyamory, which was nice).

I wrote DvD last year, too, without a beta and I was pleased to be able to write it again. This is, however, the first year I've participated where I haven't heard from my recipient, and it's a little disappointing. That said, I know there are any number of real life reasons they might not have been around.

The first year I did Yuletide I wrote a couple of treat fics (extras) and they continue to get more hits than the work I originally wrote that year. I've intended to write treats every year since, but I keep finding excuses not to; this time it was NaNoWriMo. I hope this year I can find time to write treats. Of course you can fulfil requests throughout the year, under the New Year's Resolution banner, and I did that once and the requester was very happy to unexpectedly get a fic :)

There is also so much fic to read. I've barely dented the Yuletide archive so far. I have prioritised a couple of fandoms and some fics that I've seen multiple recs for. The rest will have to wait.

Yay, I'm so happy that you got a fic you enjoyed for your Yuletide! You definitely deserved a fantastic present! Thanks for your kind words, but honestly, betaing for you is a treat for me. I love your writing! I really do hope your recipient contacts you soon. That makes me very sad they haven't commented because it's a wonderful fic. :( I'm sure they were just busy or Internet-less over the holidays. Thanks for the reminder about checking out the Yuletide archive, I want to do that this week! <3

Yes, I'm sure there's a good reason, fingers crossed I hear from them soon.

I usually end up with a massive 'read later' list that I don't clear until next Yuletide :D
