And maybe check out Karni Mata, a female Hindu sage whose temple is home to rats which are considered sacred. A person born under the Chinese Horoscope of the sign of the rat "is respected and considered a courageous, enterprising person". Other cultures and superstitions also see many positive aspects to the rat as animal, companion, or totem.

Very interesting entry. There were a lot of things I didn't know about these little critters.

Thank you :) Rat owners get tired of hearing "OMG rats are vile, filthy,disease ridden" when domestic rats are no more or are less likely to carry zoonotic (able to be transferred to humans) diseases than any other domestic animal - and humans are the foremost disease transmitters to other humans! So I think having that graphic is a great way to counteract some of the myths about rats :D They definitely all have personalities, some being smarter than others, some being more affectionate, just like other pets :D
