Summary: Nikolai wonders about an afterlife for him and his kind

Nikolai was no longer sure what he believed in. He'd seen religious sects rise and fall. He'd seen good men perish while evil men triumphed.

Sometimes he wondered though if there was an otherworld, an afterlife, a heaven, a paradise, Valhalla, Tír na nÓg. And if so, was there also a hell? And would he ever find peace, be granted entrance into some joyous afterlife? Or would his special circumstances mark him for hell, or deny him any further existence? Would he merely cease to be?

But in Aurelia's arms, no such thoughts bothered him. Being with her was heaven enough.

What does happen to vampires when they are destroyed? Interesting question, especially if one had no choice in becoming one.

I love the way you ended it - as long as Nikolai is with Aureliea, nothing else matters.
