For HRHRIONASTAR - Happy Birthday
As a gift from
dorothydeath,
meridian_rose, and with much input from
brontefanatic, we present a cracky birthday picspam. We hope you enjoy it and that you have a wonderful day.

Darken had a mission at hand. A mission much more important than any quest for the Stone of Tears and defeating the Keeper.
But he couldn't do it alone. As much as he wished otherwise, he needed allies.
He approached the Wizard first.

Well… The Wizard was not very glad to see him.

Darken had to endure a long lecture about the nature of good and evil, light and dark, and corruption of soul and spirit.
Blah.

"You will get no help from me, tyrant," finished Zeddicus, looking all holier-than-thou and self-righteous in his disdain.

"But it's Riona's birthday we're talking about. Or haven't I mentioned it?" Darken asked innocently.

Zedd's jaw dropped. He hadn't expected this turn of events.

Darken smirked. He knew he had won this one.
***
Kahlan actually went into Con Dar upon seeing him.

Darken regretted he didn't have more time to admire her magnificent fury. Three magic words – "Riona's birthday party" – and it was over.

"Dear Creator, of course I'll help!" she smiled pleasantly.
And Darken had to admit her smile was as beautiful as her Blood Rage.
***
Cara proved to be more difficult to convince. They had some very rich history after all.

But in the end the magic words worked on her as well.

Oh, he loved all those wicked thoughts that no doubt were running through her head.
***
His sister was wary when he had appeared before her.

She hadn't forgotten the lies he had told so she was in no hurry to believe him now. But she also hadn't forgotten the truths. And it seemed the Seeker had managed to disappoint her almost as much as Darken had so she wasn't quick to turn away from him either.
Jennsen listened intently, carefully weighing his words.

"I believe you, brother. And I will help you," she finally said. Then she smiled and for some strange reason Darken's heart soared.
***
Sister Nicci was next on his list.

Powerful Han was useful in all endeavours. Darken secretly hoped he might have a chance at getting it someday when he returned to the world of the living.
At first Nicci was not impressed.

She didn't care much for parties.
But then he told her it was Riona's party and that was a game-changer. Nicci's eyes flashed with excitement.

***
Denna was hard to find but Darken was hard to hide from.
She was startled when he appeared right in front of her.

And after everything she'd done she had every reason to fear him.
Darken wasn't happy he had to invite this traitor but Riona seemed to like her. So Darken had to put his grudges aside.
"Riona's birthday?" Denna relaxed. "Oh, that will be fun."

She looked positively radiant and Darken felt hurt she had never been so eager about his birthday parties.
***
Dahlia was the only one who was genuinely glad to see him.

Darken knew of her special friendship with Riona.
Dahlia was only happy to help." As you command, Lord Rahl."

***
People from other dimensions were much more amiable and easy to handle. Their reality wasn't just black and white and Darken found it comfortingly refreshing.
He had approached some in person.

And sent invitations to others. There was little time left.

But every time people were actually friendly to him. Darken wished he had been born in this other dimension instead.

Three hundred, four hundred dollars…oh, sorry, I was just counting my money :D What's that, Darken? Birthday party? Oh, goodie. There won't be drama will there? Because there is always drama at Buffy's birthday parties. Now, tradition dictates I provide a gift so let me see…what about a book on astrology? I think that will be a lovely gift and I can take it straight off the shelf of my shop!

Invitation from Lord Rahl – probably bollocks…oh, a party. Sure I'll come to Riona's birthday bash. I won't be bringing a gift though – I'll just show up shirtless.

Birthday party….pretty paper hats and wibbly wobbly jellies. Laughter and fun for everyone. But not Miss Edith. She's been naughty and has to stay behind.

Sure, I'll bring the band along, D-Man. We're not that good but we make up for it in enthusiasm. I promise not to bite anyone.

Sure, Dee, I never turn down an invite to a party. Hey, I'll even help out with security if you want. Also, word of warning, don't invite Angel unless you want him brooding in a corner all night. Guy's got the looks but not the follow through. Not like you, Lord Rahl…what was I saying? Sure, I'll be there.

I'd love to come to a party, Darken. I can discuss magical philosophy with Riona – she always has such interesting ideas :D Oh, Giles moved back to England. Ye Merry Olde England – here's his email address, if you want to invite him.

What, Sir Geoffrey? I'm just checking my email. No, it's not magic you fool. Go away. Let's see, yes, Lord Rahl, I'd love to extend Camelot's greetings to Her Royal Highness Riona. I suppose Arthur will take his clumsy manservant Merlin, but maybe I bring some of the knights to make a good show of our forces. And some cake.

Yes, Sexy Lord of the Underworld, I'd love to come to the party and have a...bite. Will Other!Me be there? Because she's so...delectable. Save me a Bloody Mary, won't you?

What do you mean you're not a vampire? Turning up looking all sexy in green flames, seductive and brooding, what's a girl supposed to think? Birthday party? Oh, sure. I'll come. I'll even put on a party hat and groove the night away. Just don't invite Angel, 'kay? Because he gets moody real quick and that's such a downer. And make sure it isn't a full moon because of the were-creatures. And I'll bring a stake or two, just in case :D

The mission was almost accomplished.
But of course there was one person who just had to cause trouble…

It was a nice evening and Richard was sitting by the campfire as he usually did.

Then suddenly the flames leapt up and Richard jumped to his feet the Sword of Truth at the ready.

Darken Rahl appeared in the fire looking all mysterious and epic. As always.

"WTF do you want with me, Rahl?" politely inquired Richard.

"It worries me that you seem to have forgotten what day it is today, dear brother," the evil tyrant replied, all the while planning some epic evilness, no doubt.

"Whatever trick you're trying to pull off, you won't succeed!" proclaimed Richard.

He didn't need to think before coming to conclusions. He was the Seeker of Truth and he always knew what that truth was. It was only logical to act first and ask questions later.
"It's February 22," Rahl continued, tactlessly ignoring Richard's rightful indignation.

"So?" Richard glared suspiciously. Something was wrong here, he could feel it in his gut.

"It's Riona's birthday, brother, and I am here to remind you that you've been invited to her party."

Darken smirked that sly sexy smirk that was his trademark.
Richard hated him for it. He hated him all the more that he was...

...right. No, Richard couldn't admit it out loud. So he glowered hard, trying to hide his embarrassment behind his – surely righteous – anger.
"It's Riona's birthday, and you're coming with me!" Darken lunged forward and grabbed Richard by the collar of his shirt, magically teleporting them both away.

They had only a few hours to shop for presents.

Darken approaches you from behind silently as a shadow but you can feel him as sure as you would feel the sun on your skin or the wind in your hair. He leans close and his breath caresses your neck as he whispers in your ear, with a tint of dark humour in the soft velvet of his voice that makes you melt inside.
"Have I pleased you, Mistress?"

I find new things to enjoy every time I read through it. The screencaps are perfect, and the attitude and speech pattern of each character are spot-on.
So clever and funny.
