From Canadian movie "Net Worth". In the 1950s the NHL controlled the players, their payments, their pensions. After a teammate dies in poverty because he couldn't access his pension, Lindsay organises a league-wide player assocation (not a union, they insist, at first)
The association's lawyer soon finds the NHL has a catch-22 position on a supposed bylaw prohibiting the players from seeing their own contracts and pension information.

Ted Lindsay	What bylaws? I've been in the league for 12 years I've never seen no bylaws!
Conn Smythe	They're right here [brandishes a book]

Milton Mound	How can a bylaw be confidential?
