Thanks :) I don't like to write off whole platforms because of a few bad apples. Tumlbr doesn't have anything like the depth of LJ/DW but it has pretty pics and occasional nuggets of wisdom :)

Yes, sex should make sense for the characters is a good way of putting it! If you know who the characters are, this should be a natural part of writing them, whether they're straight or bi, poly or monogamous. I'm loling a bit at the idea of a vampire being kinky up to a point and then being strait laced when they get to it. (I can hear Lestat sighing "Louis, always so vanilla, Louis!" if they were capable of sexual acts). I always figure supernaturals, with their long lives and lack of concern about diseases, have pretty much seen and done it all, and wouldn't really have the same hang-ups mortals do about a whole range of issues.
