Summary: problems have solutions, though the cost may be too high
Warnings: allusions to death/suicide
(writing against the clock is difficult! In some ways this has a similar theme to the sonnet I posted yesterday; the key is knowing what you want and what you're willing to do/pay to get it – and to remember that the person you're asking advice from might not have your best interests at heart!)
Solutions
All problems had solutions. This was his philosophy of life.
Of course, not all solutions were desirable. Some required sacrifice, and the sacrifice might cost more than what the problem was worth, but that wasn't his concern. A costly or imperfect solution was still a solution, after all.
There were even situations where the ultimate price would have to be paid for the desired outcome. In fact many problems could be solved by death, but he was a practical man and would never suggest this as the first option to solve any problem. There were plenty of romantic types willing to die for their cause and that wasn't what he had in mind at all.
All problems could be overcome if one put their mind to it, and made the necessary sacrifices. The trick was to find the best solution, the one that met the objective with the least cost. He could offer people possible solutions by the dozen, but it was up to them what choice they finally made.
It wasn't his fault if they chose unwisely.
