Mother MIA because she was too interested in aquatic life around to palace - I need to know more. What happened to her?
I love the interplay between Elspeth and Calico, and the fact that even though she got a dragon, she still gave him a cat's name.
I could picture them, in her bedroom, having this conversation - I love the clarity of your writing and your descriptions.
The description of the king cracked me up.
